Masuku was award winning artist Johnny Clegg's backing vocalist for 22 years.
He was shot dead in an apparent attempted hijacking in Troyeville on Saturday night.
His family said they are reeling with shock and sadness, following the news of his violent death.
The musician’s stepdaughter who's known him for 28 years told Eyewitness News she saw him as a role model.
“We’ll always love him and remember his advice and jokes. He was everything to us.”
