The speculation led to a flurry of tweets, with some people showing more ignorance than wit.
"So Caster is a man?' was a common tweet.
Semenya told the Sowetan : "There is no
wedding. Don't believe the rumours.
"Right now I am very focused on my studies and athletics; there is nothing else going on."
The Commonwealth Games start in Glasgow, Scotland, in July.
Reports suggested that Semenya's family had offered lobolo of R25000 to Raseboya's parents for Violet's hand in marriage.
In March last year Drum magazine ran a cover story claiming that Semenya and Raseboya had moved in together, drove matching cars and wore matching clothes.
