Motlanthe finally made it official yesterday to his long-time lover Gugu Mtshali. He put a ring on it yesterday in front of a few guests, at his house in Houghton, a northern suburb of Joburg. Archbishop Thabo Makgoba presided at the ceremony. The wedding was attended by the who’s who of South Africa.
Leading the pack was President Jacob Zuma, ANC’s Tony Yengeni, Amakhosi boss Kaizer Motaung, Zuma’s spokesman Mac Maharaj, Lindiwe Sisulu, Trevor Manuel, IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi and Siphiwe Nyanda – to name just a few.
The cake was designed by exclusive bakery Annica’s Cakes. Mzansi’s African R&B legend Ringo Madlingozi serenaded the couple as they were saying their I do’s.
The bride came in a silver-grey Porsche Carrera. An insider who was at the wedding said Gugu looked beaming in a simple white dress, while Motlanthe looked dapper in his tux. The source said the two looked happier than ever, then added that the planned honeymoon is likely to take the form of a relaxed vacation on a tropical Caribbean island.
