No More Mr Magic
HE got fired for being a control freak or ( for sleeping with somebodies wife or did I hear that wrong.... Hmmm)! Was I the only one who witnessed the tweet fight last week??
This after it was rumoured that UkhoziFM’s breakfast show host, Linda Sibiya, was planning to take over the station.
His axing came as a shock to his Vuka Mzansi 7,7 million listeners.
Linda, also known as “Mr Magic”, was fired by the station with immediate effect on Thursday.
Station manager, Bonga Mpanza, went on air on Thursday night to make the announcement that Linda was no longer part of the station.
Sunday Sun understands Mr Magic was under investigation for a while.
A source said: “Linda was fired without a disciplinary hearing.”
Another source said: “He was trying to influence other DJs to help him oust programme manager, Zandile Tembe.”
A number of sources told the People’s Paper that Zandile was tired of being controlled by Linda and wanted to be given space to do her job.
“He was a control freak,” added one source.
“Everyone knew that Zandile was Linda’s producer before she got promoted to be programme manager.
“Linda used to remind her that she owed her promotion to him. He also wanted to control everything, including the station’s line-up,” said the source. Another source explained: “Their friendship has been tense in the past few weeks."
In response to his dismissal, Linda threatened to spill the beans on Facebook.
Zandile refused to comment but said: “It’s news to me that I don’t see eye-to-eye with Linda. I can’t comment further.”
SABC spokesman, Kaizer Kganyago, confirmed that Linda’s contract was terminated on Thursday.
Said Kaizer: “We can’t divulge the reasons but he knows why. We’ve had
issues with him.”
Linda refused to comment, saying that he will talk only during a press conference on a date and time that is still to be confirmed.
